Marie Buckley Obituary

Marie Buckley was born on November 11, 1925 in Proctor, Arkansas. She was the third of ten children. She was born to the late John and Alma Mosley.

Marie was raised and spent most of her youth in the south as the family moved from Proctor, Arkansas to Mississippi. Marie was a fun loving sister who cared for and loved her siblings with all of her heart. To see them come together for visits would warm your heart as the room lit up with life, love, and laughter whenever they were together.

In 1943, Marie married John Henry Buckley, the love of her life. Ten beautiful children were born to this union, eight handsome sons and two beautiful daughters. She was a dedicated and devoted wife and mother. She lovingly expressed her loved and devotion for her husband and family throughout her life.

She and her husband decided in 1945, with two young babies, Marie bravely boarded a train bound for Michigan to pursue better economic opportunity in preparation for her husband to join her. The family settled in Romulus, Michigan and made Jones Sub their permanent home. Marie and her husband were devoted parents who raised their children with love and tenderness at the cornerstone of their lives.

She united Community Baptist Church, under the Pastorate of Rev. C.C. Darden where she faithfully served several pastors for more than sixty years. Marie took pride in her service to the Lord caring for the pastors while serving on the Nurses Guild for many years.

Marie had a kind, humble and giving spirit. She eagerly stepped into care for her extended family and friends whenever there was a need. She and her husband opened their home to family, and friends alike. She was always available with an encouraging word, a phone call that made you feel special because you were on her mind and cheerfully served delicious meals to unexpected guests.

Marie was a beacon in the community. She was loved and affectionately known as "Mom" to many. As a testament to her generosity, James Bell consistently brought her meals three times a week. Additionally, Beverly Ford and Vivian Weaver occasionally prepared special meals.

On Wednesday evening, June 14, 2017, Mother Marie Buckley quietly and peacefully slipped away from us. She finished her course and entered into eternal rest in the presence of the Lord surrounded by her family.
