Marcus Thomas Obituary

Marcus Hurley Thomas, also known as "Bulldog" to his close associates, was the fourth child born to Charles Edward Thomas and Dorothy F. Morrison, on August 14, 1947, in Inkster, Michigan.

Marcus received his education through the Inkster Public School System, graduating in 1965 from Inkster High School. On September 2, 1966, he joined the United States Army. Marcus excelled in the Armed Services, becoming a sharpshooter for his unit. He was always proud of serving his country and received Honorable Discharge on August 31, 1968. After returning from the armed service, Marcus worked briefly for Elise Hospital and Ford Motor Company before becoming employed by the City of Detroit. He worked as a Patrol Officer for the Detroit Police Department for nearly eight years, before deciding to become part of the Gang Squad. He retired from the Detroit Police Department after thirty years of dedicated service.

Marcus was joined in Holy Matrimony to Teresa Ann Strickland on October 14, 1972. This union was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Marraci Janye and Mahjabyn Teresa Thomas and son William Strickland who died at birth.

Marcus was a good man. His heart was kind and generous. He helped so many people along the way during his time on the police force. He was truly a person that would share his last to make someone else happy, this included family, friends, and associates, if he could help, he would, no matter what the cause. Marcus was so deeply loved by all of us. He was a special person and will always have a special place in our hearts.

Marcus made his transition on April 15, 2018. His son, William Strickland; father, Charles Thomas Sr., brother Charles Thomas Jr., sister Andrea Nelson and father-in-law, Walter Clay Strickland preceded him in death.
