Jeannette Woods (Hargrove) was born May 8, 1932 in Gainesville, Alabama to the late Elijah and Mary (Jones) Hargrove, Sr. She accepted Christ at an early age at the Antioch Baptist Church in Gainesville, Alabama. She then moved to Bessemer, Alabama with her mother and siblings where she grew up and was educated.
In 1951, she moved to Michigan where she met and married Sam Woods. They moved to Romulus, Michigan and raised three children, TanTia, Irma and Vinson.
For several years, Jeanette worked as housekeeper, but to her nieces, cousins and young girls in the neighborhood, she was the "press and curl queen".
Mother Woods was a founding member of the Union Grove Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as the church secretary and eventually a beloved mother of the church. The board in her hospital room listed her daily goal as "go to church".
Mother's Final Flight was taken when the Angels came to give her a personal escort home on October 17, 2017.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Woods; daughter, TanTia Quinn; son, Vinson Woods; two sisters, Bobbie Lee Scott and Mary Lucy Paige; four brothers, John M., Neelie, Elijah (Babe) and LL Hargrove.
