Gertrude Fields

Gertrude Virginia McNary was born August 19, 1929 to the parents of Jessie and Irene McNary in Lucy, Tennessee. She was the youngest of nine children, seven who have preceded her in death.

Gertrude attended Shelby County Training School in Memphis, TN. She was married to Bland Fields (Who preceded her in death) and from this union, 12 children were born. Bland and Gertrude moved from Memphis, TN to Detroit, MI in 1951 and eventually settled in Inkster, MI in 1963. Gertrude worked as a Nurses Aide in the hospital now known as St. Judes. Happily, she spent the majority of her life as a stay at home mother.

Gertrude enjoyed cooking "That famous Peach Cobbler", playing cards and spending time with her family.

Gertrude is survived by her siblings: Katie P. Foster, Jessie McNary, Dean Rice and Eloise Brooks. Joseph McNary, Lilly Mae Rita McNary, Jessie Ree Parker, Louis McNary, Lois McNary, Leslie McNary, and Dorothy Mallete, all whom preceded her in death. Her children: Roger Fields (Ch'cola), Vernon Fields (Charlotte), Blondel Fields, Michael Fields (Kimberly), Donald Fields, Marilyn Fields-Johnson, Cedric Fields, Garnett Fields, and Clarice Williams. Cheryl Ann Fields, Jewell Fields, and Gerald Fields, all whom preceded her in death. Thirty-Four Grandchildren, Twenty-Eight Great Grandchildren, and Ten Great, Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
