Eula Mae Eatmon was born November 24, 1926 to Johnnie and Lona Hicks in Eutaw, Alabama. Eula was the first born of 11 children. She was educated in the Alabama Public School System. She was raised in church and accepted Christ at a young age. Preceding Eula in death were her parents, two siblings, Luther and Johnnie Jr, and her daughter, Shirley Copeland.
Eula met and married Clayton Eatmon in 1965 and in 1968 they decided to pursue a better life for their young children and moved to Michigan.
Eula or "ma" as she was affectionately called, was known for her loving spirit, sharing heart, delicious meals, open door, and faithfulness to Christ, serving in numerous capacities over the years. She was a faithful member of the Citadel of Praise until her health began to decline.
In the early morning hours on Saturday, March 31, 2018, God gave Eula her wings and said you have fought a good fight. You have finished your course. You kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up a crown of righteousness for you.
Eula leaves to cherish her memory: her husband Clayton; children: Janette Smith (California), Lona Robinson (California), Mildred Davis (Alabama), Roy Chambers (Deborah), Johnnie Rice, Devonia Rice, Mamie Pryor (Anthony), Darnell Eatmon, Carolyn Eatmon, Darrell Eatmon (Danielle) all of Michigan; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; one sister, Leola Champell (California); seven brothers: Eulton Hicks, Charles Hicks, Nem Hicks (Dot) all of California, Richard Hicks (Vera), Melvin Hicks (Minnie) of Michigan; Israel Hicks, James Hicks (Linda) of Alabama; and a host of friends, family, neighbors and honorary son Clifford Calvin.
