Darryl Cadwell Obituary

Darryl Kevin Cadwell was born in River Rouge, MI on February 18, 1957 to Edsel Franklin and Emma Jean Cadwell (Emma preceded him in death). He was the second child of four children. Darryl was raised with a belief and reverence for the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior.

As a youth Darryl participated in Boy Scouts of America and sang in the children's choir at First Baptist Church in Delray, MI. He was an avid lover of music and was even a part of a singing group in junior high school. His love of different styles of music was so great that over time he grew an extensive record collection ranging from soul music, to hip-hop, to country.

Darryl enjoyed playing basketball in Detroit Public Schools as well as Inkster High School. He was loved and emulated by his classmates.

In hi younger years Darryl was blessed with a daughter Telisha. He was destined to be a father of two girls. While previously joined in marriage to Betty Braylocks, this union produced two beautiful daughters, Jeaneen and Shana. Later his daughter Jazmin graced the world with her lovely presence. Finally, his fifth daughter Snowball, a bichon frise toy dog joined the mix and became a wonderful and loyal companion for him. One might say that Snowball was his favorite girl.

Daryl was naturally talented as a tailor following in his mother and big brother's footsteps. He often made clothes for himself and some of his relatives. In addition to this he was a master floor installer and licensed journeyman in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. For a period of time Darryl ran an independent company called Cadwell Floors. His skills were in high demand. He handled large contracts, such as Penn Funeral Home, Cathedral of Faith Church, and even did work at the Detroit Auto Show and Ford Field. Darryl helped to enhance the beauty of many of his friends and relative's homes as well providing these services.

In addition to floor installation, Darryl also worked in various administrative position at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Detroit, MI. He formed lasting relationships at MGM and was very well thought of. In later years, he enjoyed mentoring children in the mechanics of basketball in his spare time.

Darryl departed his realm on July 29, 2017. His final day was spent enjoying one of his favorite past times, listening to live music with his baby sister Tanya.
