Bobby Childs Obituary
Bobby Steven Childs was born on July 17, 1956 to Ruthie Lee Childs (Napier) and the late Bennie Childs. He resided in Thomaston, GA until he moved with his family to Cleveland, OH where he graduated from Shaw High School in 1974. After graduating, he relocated to Detroit, MI where he began working at Flagg Brothers.
In 1986, while working at J.L. Hudson, Bobby sought the Lord's guidance for direction for his life. Shortly after, he was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost at Bethlehem Temple Pentecostal Church under the leadership of John R. Hemmingway Sr. It was during this time he met and married Cheryl Mitchell on May 23, 1987. Bobby is remembered for being light-hearted, fun loving, and for his continual selfless sacrifices. He always found a way to make everyone laugh. Above all, he was known for his superb work ethic and dedication to his family. Bobby was a tender-hearted son, charismatic brother, devoted husband and father, and loving grandfather.
Bobby leaves a legacy of fond memories for all who knew him. He leaves behind to cherish his life: his devoted and caring wife, Cheryl; children; Michael (Shareese) Mitchell Sr., Keturah (Robert) Epps, Katrice Childs, and Ketrina Childs; his loving mother, Ruthie Lee Childs; siblings, Charles Sr., Rev. Dr. Henry (Minister Vivian), Mattie Ruth (David) Roussaw, Elaine (Hime) Childs-Hambrick, Joseph (Nina), and Kim (Lisa); a devoted niece, Johnna, who was by his side at hi passing; grandchildren, Barry (BJ), Ashley, Michael Jr., MiKayla, Micah, Michal, MiShayla, MiLaysia, and Kamora, and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends.
